About Us

SAVING A CHILD’S HEART INIITATIVE IS NOW SAVING A CHILD’S HEALTH INIITATIVE

Apollo Hospitals to reach out to underprivileged children in need of treatment for all major medical conditions including heart conditions.

Saving A Child’s Health Initiative (SACHi) is an initiative of Apollo Hospitals to address the critical health needs of underprivileged children and ensure life-saving treatment. Illness among the poor is a double burden and it is estimated that around 1.73 million children in India die every year due to not being able to avail of medical treatment. Thousands of underprivileged children live with debilitating medical conditions that make them unable to lead a healthy and happy life, as all children deserve. Socio-economically underprivileged parents do not have the resources to help save their children. Apollo Hospitals believes these are lives that can be saved.

With Saving A Child’s Heart Initiative in the past, one of Asia’s largest charitable organisations dedicated to providing paediatric care (link here to existing SACHi website), led by the vision of Apollo Hospitals Chairman Dr Prathap C. Reddy, the lives of thousands of babies and children across India who suffered from congenital heart disease such as hole in the heart or impaired valve functioning were saved.

Apollo Hospitals wants to do more and the achievements of SACHi have spurred the launch of Saving A Child’s Health Initiative (SACHi),  a non-governmental organization that aims to cover treatment of cardiac and other critical health conditions of underprivileged children who require surgery as well as children who require treatment of chronic health conditions.

With Apollo Hospitals, India’s leading multi-specialty healthcare services provider operating across all major cities of the country, and the best doctors and surgeons ready to lend their healing touch, SACHi aims to be a beacon of hope for those children and their families who would otherwise be unable to afford specialized medical treatment.

Vision

Screen

Diagnose

Treat

Educate

Empower

Reaching out to underprivileged children in need of medical treatment across India between the ages of 0-16 years in the areas of preventive and curative health care.

Creating health awareness among children and in the community to benefit children in underserved communities.

Providing specialised medical treatment for children in need.

Organising activities focussed at improving the health and overall development of needy, underprivileged children.

How We Work

There are socio-economically vulnerable children in need of medical treatment all across India. SACHi touches all aspects of a child’s life through the approach of Screen, Diagnose, Treat, Educate and Empower.

Screen

SACHi teams, through their network of referrals through partner organisations and others, and free health camps (after Covid-19 restrictions are eased), will identify children in need of treatment in the age group of 0-16 years for specific medical conditions such as respiratory, neurological, cardiac, gastro-intestinal, orthopaedic, oncology-related, among others.

Diagnose

The children will avail of free teleconsultation on the Apollo 247 app, a unique service whereby children in need can get attention from medical experts. The condition of the children will be medically evaluated by specialist doctors and the next steps for treatment identified.

Treat

Treatments could range from non-surgical to surgical interventions. SACHi is operational in six major cities currently and these cities will also treat patients referred to from rural areas in the respective  states.  With SACHI funding from our generous donors, diagnosis and treatment of these children will be undertaken in a planned manner with necessary follow-up care included. The children will get a chance to lead a healthy life and be the best that they can.

Educate & Empower

Anganwadi & Balwadi Support Programmes will be undertaken to educate and empower pregnant women on nutritional and health requirements during pregnancy and taking care of themselves and their babies after delivery. Awareness generation programmes will be conducted for pregnant women in these centres. These will be done after Covid-19 restrictions are eased and it is safe to conduct these programmes.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

SACHi can save precious little lives with any contribution you make.
